Patterdale
School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School catering
for children from four to eleven years of age.
The
School has been in existence since 1873 but the buildings were modernized
in 1970. The School has three teaching areas, a hall, library,
a kitchen and a cloakroom with newly refurbished toilet facilities.
The School also has the use of a computer suite and teaching area
- which is part of the Community Development Centre. This is a new
extension to the school - completed in January 2003.
Currently
under construction is a new classroom, office and library area to
make way for a school hall within the current building. Work should
finish in June 2008.
The
School is pleasantly situated in the Lake District National Park
at the head of the Ullswater Valley. It has extensive grounds
to grass and tarmac for recreation and sport. There is a wooded
area with broad leafed trees and a natural wild area containing
grasses and wild flowers encouraging the habitat of natural wildlife.
There is also a Gazebo, Adventure Play Area and Pond.
